Privacy Policy

A private house for the films you sit with. This policy explains what ScrFilm keeps, what never leaves the device, and when a request must travel to a catalog.

Who we are

ScrFilm is a personal cinema journal for iPhone and iPad. You record a screening — the title, the room, the company, a rating, a line of memory, and an optional still — and return to it in the Reel, the Circle, and the Vault.

There is no account, no feed, and no cloud locker of our own. The reel lives on your device unless you choose to involve the system (for example, a photograph from the library) or the living catalog (The Movie Database).

Information we keep

ScrFilm does not operate a user database and does not ask you to register. What the app stores is the journal you write:

This journal is written to local storage on your iPhone or iPad (Application Support), not to our servers. We do not receive a copy.

The app does not collect advertising identifiers, analytics events, crash reports, precise location, contacts, or payment data. We do not sell personal information.

Camera and photo library

If you keep a still from a screening, iOS will ask for access:

You may refuse either permission and still use the rest of the reel. You can change access later in iOS Settings.

How the information is used

Local journal data is used solely to show you your own reel: to group nights by year or month, to list companions and rooms, to keep the Queue, and to restore what you recorded after you close the app.

We do not use this information to profile you, to advertise, or to train models. We do not combine it with data from other products.

Third parties — the living catalog

Atlas, title search, and film details are drawn from The Movie Database (TMDB). When you browse the catalog, search a title, or open a film, the app sends a request to TMDB’s servers (including your search text) and may load poster and still artwork from TMDB’s image hosts.

Those requests may include technical information that any web request carries, such as IP address and device-level network data. TMDB processes that information under its own terms and privacy policy. ScrFilm is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

UI libraries used to draw the app (layout, refresh, and progress) do not collect your journal.

This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Please review TMDB’s privacy policy on themoviedb.org.

When we share

We do not sell, rent, or trade your journal. We do not share screening notes, companion names, rooms, or stills with advertisers or data brokers.

Disclosure would occur only if required by law, or if you yourself export or show the content through the operating system (for example, a screenshot you take).

Retention and deletion

Entries remain on the device until you withdraw them or remove the app.

Because we do not host your journal, we cannot remotely erase a copy we never received. If you contact us about this policy, we keep only the correspondence you send.

Security

The reel is protected by the security of your device and, where you have set it, your passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID. No method of storage is perfect. Keep the device in your care.

Children

ScrFilm is a personal journal. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information by email, write to us and we will delete that correspondence.

Changes

If the way ScrFilm keeps or uses information changes, we will update this policy and the date above. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
