The reel, the atlas, the circle, and the vault — how to keep a night, how to withdraw it, and how to reach us when the catalog will not open.

The house

ScrFilm is a private cinema journal. There is no account to create. Four rooms sit on the floating bar:

Reel

The Reel

Every screening you have committed, grouped by year — or by month once a year is chosen. Search titles, rooms, companions, and memories.

Atlas

Cinema

The living catalog, drawn from TMDB. Trending, popular, acclaimed, in theaters, and by mood. Search any title.

Circle

Company

Whoever shared the dark with you. Filter Everyone, a named companion, or Solitary nights.

Vault

The Vault

The Queue, genres, stills, years, and rooms — a shelf of what you have kept.

The app is portrait on iPhone and iPad. The journal stays on the device; we do not host a copy.

Record a screening

From the Reel

Tap the plus on The Reel, search the catalog, and open a title. Then tap Record this screening.

From the Atlas

Open a film from the featured still or the poster grid. Record this screening, or tap Keep for later to hold it in the Queue without dating a night.

On the record

Tap Commit to the reel. The title leaves the Queue if it was waiting there.

Revise, withdraw, release

Withdrawing a screening does not remove the film from the Atlas. Releasing a companion does not erase the nights you already wrote.

The living catalog

Atlas talks to The Movie Database. You need a network. Pull down to refresh; the footer loads the next page. Filters: Trending, Popular, Acclaimed, In Theaters, and a short cut of genres.

If the catalog is out of reach, wait a moment and try again. A weak connection, a travel network, or a brief TMDB pause will show that line. Artwork loads from TMDB’s image hosts — a poster may arrive after the title.

This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Catalog search text is sent to TMDB so a title can be found.

Stills and permissions

A still is optional. When you keep one, iOS will ask:

Refuse either and the rest of the journal still works. Change access later in iOS Settings → ScrFilm.

Your reel on the device

Screenings, companions, rooms, the Queue, and stills are stored locally. Deleting the app deletes the reel. There is no cloud restore from us.

To empty a demonstration journal after a first launch, withdraw the nights you do not want, or remove the app and install again.

If something fails

The catalog will not load

Confirm the device is online. Close and reopen Atlas. If the line returns, wait and pull to refresh. The rest of the reel does not need the network.

A poster or still is blank

The title is still on the reel. Open the night again on a stable connection so artwork can finish. A still you took yourself lives on the device and does not need the catalog.

The year chips are missing

All and the year chips appear only when the reel holds more than one year. A single year is written once on the grouping bar.

iPad dialogs or the camera

Sheets and the camera are presented from the page you are on. If a picker does not appear, return to the record screen and try Keep a still again.

Orientation

Pages stay in portrait. That is intended.

Write to us

For a fault, a permission question, or a note about the reel, send a message. A useful letter includes the device (iPhone or iPad), the iOS version, the room you were in (Reel, Atlas, Circle, Vault), and what you expected to see.

We read support at this address. We do not host your journal; attach only what you are willing to send.
